A 100 per cent clearance was achieved along with an $18,000 top at the third annual Crawford Angus on-property spring bull sale at Tumorrama last Friday.
In total, the Graham family sold all 38 Angus bulls that went under the hammer for a solid $7724 average.
The first sons of Texas Kelvin Klein K542, the $44,000 Texas Angus 2016 top-priced bull purchased by the Graham family, drew demand from buyers with three sons sold for the top, second top and third top prices of the day, and progeny averaging $13,375.
Crawford N374 was the $18,000 sale-topper that was snapped up by local buyer Eulonga Pastoral Co, Wulonga, Coolac.
The two-year-old N374 was by Kelvin Klein K542, and from BGraham H255 a daughter of the $18,000 Banquet Ethridge E083 the Grahams purchased in 2011.
His Breedplan estimated breeding values (EBVs) sat in the top one per cent of the breed for mature cow weight, top five pc for scrotal size, top 10pc for gestation length, 600-day weight, and carcase weight, and the top 15pc for 400-day weight.
PE Graham Trust, Bongongo, Coolac, secured the second top-priced bull Crawford N352, a Kelvin Klein K542 son, for $13,500.
From the BGraham E815 female, the 25-month-old N352 was in the top five pc of the breed for mature cow weight, top 10pc for scrotal size and rump fat, and top 15pc for carcase weight.
They also purchased Crawford N345, another K542 son from BGraham BGR D385, for $13,000. He sat in the top five pc of the breed for mature cow weight and carcase weight, and top 10pc for retail beef yield.
PE Graham Trust rounded up their selections with a Rennylea Edmund E11 son called Crawford N291 for $9000. They averaged $11,833 for the draft.
Crawford N301 sold for $12,000 to Oakey Holdings, Borambola. He sat in the top five pc of the breed for days to calving and top 15pc for gestation length, the Angus Breeding Index and Heavy Grain Index.
Return local clients Fernhill Holdings, Fernhill, Adjungbilly, were the major volume buyer, securing eight bulls for a $9000 top and $7313 average.
MS. Henwood, Grong Grong, bought six bulls for a $8000 top and $6800 average.
Jeremiah Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, Scrubbers Bedden, Adjungbilly, bought four for a top of $7500 and average of $6375.
Also returning to buy at the Crawford sale was Gundagai Bee Farms, Gundagai, who purchased three bulls and outlaid a top of $7000, twice, and average of $6500 for their draft.
The sale was conducted by agents in conjunction Elders and Landmark with Joe Wilks taking bids as the auctioneer on the day.
