A weather system that brought rain and snow along the southern ranges is moving north today, with some solid totals expected in the parched Central-West.

Wellington had recorded 18mm already this morning with Dubbo set for possible storms and showers through the day. The Bathurst area has recorded generally upwards of 30mm, and the Hunter Valley is set for a soak today as well as parts of the Mid-North Coast.
Yesterday rain and snow swept up the southern ranges, bringing excellent totals around the Canberra to Goulburn area, with one location near Braidwood recording 60mm. Snow around Goulburn area was up to six inches deep and already farmers were talking about hanging on to their stock rather than selling, with two local stock auctions cancelled today. It has come at the right time for many crops in the area. "Snow is great, full of nitrogen. It's the poor man's urea," one local said.
The Hume Highway was closed for awhile while snow was cleared.
Canberra received its best rain since April of 30mm. The Monaro had a general soaking of between 10-20mm as the snow fell right up to Oberon and Goulburn areas above 800m. The South Coast also had good follow-up rain after a dumping three weeks ago.
Another wet weather system is expected to hit the state later this weekend.
The state is still in the grip of the worst drought in memory, with over 90 per cent of NSW still drought-declared.
