The sale draft was made up of 46 horned rams, selling to an average of $2076, and 34 poll rams, going under the hammer for an average of $2240.
The Yanko's Ian Cameron said they had increased their offering this year from the 72 put forward in 2018 and were very happy to have seen a good result and full clearance.
The first of the top rams, Lot 5, was purchased by repeat buyers Bungeeltap Pty Ltd, Glenhope, Victoria. Manager, Heath Evans represented the property at the sale and Jason Rothe of Australian Wool Network did the bidding.
Mr Cameron said the poll ram was by their own sire, The Yanko 15.706, which goes back to Collinsville 13242.
"He's been quite an impact sire in the poll side, just very structurally correct and very good quality wool on top of it," Mr Cameron said.
The ram had 19.2 microns, a standard deviation of 3.1, coefficient of variation of 16.4 and comfort factor of 99.5 per cent.
He tipped the scales at 102.5 kilograms and had a yearling weight of 5.2, yearling clean fleece weight of 27.4 and Merino plus index of 168.
Mr Evans said they were looking to move their Merino enterprise more towards polls due to their ease-of-management.
The top priced ram was one of 13 sires they took home on the day.
"We'll be using these rams in our Merino enterprise at Glenhope but we will also use them to breed a good line of Merino ewes for our first cross enterprise at Macedon," Mr Evans said.
The equal top priced ram of the day was by another Victorian Robertson family.
The Robertsons from Gledfield, Rossbridge, Vic bought Lot 10, a horned ram, for $4750.
Mr Cameron said the ram was also sired by one of their own, The Yanko 16.529.
"He's one we specially selected two years ago for his wool quality and structure," Mr Cameron said.
"The grand sire is The Yanko Enfield, an impact sire here in our horns and a major family for us over the last few years."
Purchaser, Neil Robertson said he had bought at The Yanko for the past three years.
"I picked this ram for his wool's crimpiness, his size and structure, the way he stands," Mr Robertson said.
"I think they breed good strong head on these horned rams."
The ram had 19.2 microns, SD of 3, CV of 15.5, CF of 99 per cent, YWT of 8.2, YCFW of 26.2, MP+ of 163 and weighed 107 kg.
The Kingston partners of Yarrawah, The Rock selected 12 rams to take home. David Kingston said they were particularly chasing good yearling weights.
Clare Station, Ivanhoe also came away from the auction with 12 rams.
The sale was conducted by Elders and Landmark with Nick Gray and Peter Godbolt taking the bids.
