Of the 48 Poll Dorset rams on offer, 33 sold under the hammer for a clearance of 69 percent and an average of $758.
The top price ram was purchased by repeat buyer David Saunders of Pine View Guyra. Mr Saunders runs a pure commercial operation of Poll Dorsets with self replacing rams. His first Poll dorset ewes were purchased from Abelene Park over a decade ago when he convinced the stud principal Max Douglas to part with some older ewes.
He has based his flock on Abelene blood and has returned to reinforce the Abelene genetics.
The August 2018 drop ram weighed 128 kilograms, with an eye muscle area of 40 square centimeters and seven millimetres of fat. He was sired by AP 278-15, a Abelene Park bred ram who was part of the winning junior pair at Bendigo 2016.
The second top price ram tag 52, sold for $1500, an August 2018 drop and the first lot of the day. He weighed in at 137kg, with an EMA of 43 square cm and nine mm of fat.
The stud also offered a selection of Poll Dorset ewes with seven of 13 selling for a clearance of 54pc, an average of $471 and a top of $550.
All of the passed in ewes were sold after the hammer to an undisclosed client.
Matt Hamilton of North Ningle, Gurley was bulk buyer taking home six rams to complete his draft for a top of $700 and an average of $666.
The rams were Mr Hamilton's first purchase of Poll Dorset's and will be bred over his older merino ewes to take advantage of the prime lamb market.
