To win one campdraft category is good, to win two is small feat but to take out a hat-trick at the one event pretty darn rare.
Tim McCarthy dominated Gladstone Campdraft recently taking out the titles in the open on horse Northern Lights as well as the maiden and novice events with his own-bred horses respectively Coyote and Wong.
"I picked the right steer at the right time," Mr McCarthy said.
Mr McCarthy, 43, who has been campdrafting since he was nine, said he had only won the novice and maiden at Gladstone in past years.
"To win all three on my home ground is pretty rare especially with the calibre of riders we had on that weekend," he said.
"With many campdrafts cancelled because of the drought it's good to see such great local support."
He now qualifies to compete at the The Australian Bushmen's Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) national finals in January.

Meanwhile the Gladstone campdraft started raising money for returned servicemen and the ambulance station after World War 2.
Today more than 70 years later the committee is still donating to charity with many riders donning pink shirts in support for the Country Women's Association Gladstone's Evening Branch 'pink up the town' fundraiser for breast cancer.
In other news, keen campdrafters are preparing for the holy grail of the sport, the Warwick Gold Cup campdraft, which will take place on October 21 to 27.
