For those with an adventurous spirit and a desire to support a charity, the annual 'Hay Rust and Dust Outback Rally' is gearing up for the 2019 event between 29 November and 2 December.
Started four years ago by Jasen Crighton, chairman Crighton Rural Engineering, Hay it was an end-of-year work event, a form of 'Christmas thanks' to the staff at Crighton Rural Engineering.
However, such was the enjoyable participation by those involved it has very quickly become an avenue to raise the awareness of health issues in the bush.
"In the first rally we had six cars valued less than $1000, and it was a lot of fun," he said.
"But at the same time we realised we had a terrific opportunity to raise money for Hay CanAssist, especially as we were aware the local CanAssist funds had been robbed."
Mr Crighton noted over $310,000 has been raised for that very worthy cause.
Entries are limited to 42 cars and there are still eight vacancies to be filled before this years rally heads off along unknown dirt tracks across the west of NSW.
Besides those individuals who enter their own car, the rally has provision for a "Corporate" entry where a company can bid on the fully provisioned car, provide a team of three and take part in an outback adventure.
"The winner's win a car and the looser's chip in ten percent of their loosing bid to show their support," Mr Crighton said.
"Please consider supporting this great cause by going to https://www.32auctions.com/RustnDust2019Corporate and placing a bid on the chance your company might win a place in the rally."
The rally is also featured in a two minute video (see below)
Mr Crighton highlighted other options of supporting the cause if you are unable to take part in the rally.
"Pledge support by emailing jasen@crightons.com.au and I'll take care of the rest," he said.
"Thank's for considering supporting our event in some way.
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to support a great charity and show your appreciation to three of your hard working staff, or use this opportunity to spend some quality fun time with your work colleges, customers, friends or family."
