Kempsey High student Alex Schofield has again taken out the NSW champion individual for the inter schools meat judging competition over the weekend.
Derived from a combination of individual overall scores from the Wingham Beef Week held in May and the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza (UHBB) held in October, Mr Schofield claimed the same title in 2018 after a very successful year.
A back-to-back win for the year 12 student who placed first out of hundreds of participants at the 2019 Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza to claim the champion individual title, he also was the individual champion at Wingham Beef Week.
Mr Schofield was champion of the retail cut and primal identification class, receiving full points (150/150), ahead of teammate Liam Whalen, Kempsey High School, in reserve on 140 points.
Chipped at the post by Tom Harwood of Kempsey High in the beef carcase judging who scored 285 points from a possible 300, Mr Schofield was runner-up in this section on 274.
As his prize, Mr Schofield now receives a place at an artificial insemination course sponsored by Stephen Brown from No Bull Artificial Breeding.
Coming in as the runner-up NSW champion was fellow Kempsey High student, Ruby Weismantel who was also the runner-up individual in the UHBB competition on 404 points.
Mr Schofield and Ms Weismantel teamed up with Liam Whalen and Tom Harwood to lead Kempsey High School in a dominate performance where they took out overall champion team on 1620 points from a possible 1800.
A whopping 372 points in front of the next team, the Kempsey team also won the teams retail cut and primal identification section on 535/600 points and the beef carcass judging on 1085/1200 points.

They were led by teacher and coach Gavin Saul who received the NSW Schools Coach of the Year award.
Calrossy Anglican School's team made up of Ben Cameron, Maddison Cross, Elizabeth Sweeney and Cara Rudder, came in as overall runners-up in the teams section on 1248.
They also were the runner-up team in the retail cut and primal identification.
Representatives of the New England Girls School, Armidale, were runners-up in the beef carcase judging on 956 points from 1200. Their team was made up of Emma Steele, Maddie Watts, Eliza Watts, and Jorja Mason.
An award was also presented to JBS Scone for their generosity hosting the 2019 UHBB Australian Junior Meat Judging Competition.
