Quality dogs in online rma working dog auction

This year's event has been impacted by drought, which means there won't be any trials, and the sale will be run completely online thorugh AuctionsPlus.

Organising agent Steve Daley, Colin Say and Co, Glen Innes, said it was disappointing to have to cancel the trials, which allowed buyers to see the dogs in action before the sale.

"We have a good range of young to older dogs that will suit any budget, and dogs that can work in teams or completely by themselves," Mr Daley said.

"While we won't have demonstrations or trials this year, we do have a detailed catalogue and videos of each dog on the AuctionsPlus and Colin Say and Co websites."

Twenty five dogs are catalogued, from professional and hobby trainers in the New England, North West and Mid North Coast, as well as Queensland.

Over the previous seven years, the rma auction has become a leading working dog sale, attracting buyers from most states and reaching highs of $10,000, $9250 and $10,750 in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

In last year's sale, first-time buyer Aaron Jones took home the top dog, trained and sold by Tim Mackie from Wallabadah.

Harris Farm Jimmy, by Hilton Park Crackers from Sherwood Nelly was a two-year-old Kelpie that had placed third in the vendor trial.

"He's fabulous. I was looking for something could go straight to work, where I didn't have to worry about training him, and he's turned into a great truck dog," Mr Jones said.

"I've been carting the sheep to the trials so I'd spend two full days there watching the dogs. I picked him off the video online leading up to the auction. He comes to work with me every day, and for the first seven or eight months I was flat out, but now it's back to one or two sheep jobs a week."

All dogs can be viewed online prior to the sale, beginning at 1pm on November 16. Pre-bidding is open from Friday, November 8.
