The country's best shearers and wool handlers will be in action, hoping to claim a national title and selection in the Australian team to participate in the Golden Shears in Masterton, New Zealand, next year.
The three days will be jam packed with action, beginning with judging workshops and shearing practice on Thursday, November 28, before the Dubbo Shearing and Wool Handling competition on the Friday.
The National Shearing and Wool Handling Championships will be held on Saturday, November 30.
The official program is as follows:
Thursday, November 28
- 1pm - 4:30pm: workshops and practice days - Expo Pavilion;
- 6:30pm: introduction of teams - Dubbo Expo Center.
Friday, November 29
- 7:30am to 5:30pm: Dubbo Shearing and Wool Handling competition and Trans-Tasman competitions - Expo Pavilion;
- 7:30pm: Presentation dinner for the Dubbo and the Trans-Tasman competitions - Macquarie Inn.
Saturday, November 30
- 7:30am: managers meeting - Expo Centre;
- 8:30am to 5pm: National Shearing and Wool Handling Competition - Expo Pavilion;
- 7pm: National Shearing and Wool Handling formal presentation dinner - Dubbo Expo Centre.
Shearing events include the novice shearing heats and finals; intermediate shearing heats, semi-finals and finals; senior shearing heats, semi-finals and finals; open shearing heats, semi-finals and finals; Teams events; and blade shearing heats and finals.
The Trans-Tasman events include blade, wool handling and shearing events.
Wool handling events include Novice heats, semi-finals and finals; senior heats, semi-finals and finals; and open heats, semi-finals and finals.
"It should be a great three days of quality shearing and wool handling," event organiser Meg Bush said.
