Dominated by Angus, there was 1368 cattle listed for the Costello Rural Annual Christmas sale at Corryong, Victoria and quoted by Costello Rural director, Justin Costello as a "firm but fair" market.
"We had repeat buyers from Tasmania competing with local restockers and a lot of sales made through AuctionsPlus," he said.
"There was a feature line of Murray Greys which sold to $1545, while Angus steers sold to $1480 and Angus weaners topped at $1300."
Murray Grey steers, 14 to 17 months and weighing 433kg sold for $1545 when offered by Peter and Gina Sutherland, Thologolong, Victoria, while MW Wood and KT Wolfson, Tooma, received $1480 for 23 Angus steers weighing 519kg.
Angus weaner steers, nine to 11 months and weighing 410kg sold for $1300.
In the heifer pens, 18 Angus, 15 months, NSM and weighing 496kg sold for $1450, while NC and MR Clydsdale, Cudgewa, Vic, received $865 for their pen of 29 Murray Grey heifers weighing 348kg.
