He was a finalist in the NSW Young Auctioneers Competition and a competitor in the campdrafting. She was charged with the administration for the horse events.
"We needed to take a photo of him for the big screen for the campdraft competition but he kept missing his appointments because of his other commitments so you could say he became a thorn in my side," Bri joked about how she met her now husband Laurie Argue.
The pair spent time together talking at the show where Bri noticed Laurie wasn't like any other young men.
"He was there competing with his family, which showed he had great values," Bri said.
"When we talked later on at a romantic level I could see he was kind and honest."
Laurie was more matter-of-fact saying Bri was certainly "easy on the eye".
"I certainly wasn't an easy one to deal with but when we talked I knew we had a connection," Laurie said.
It wasn't until four years later that they reconnected through campdraft events. They went on their first date and love blossomed. And again horses played a vital role for the moment when Laurie proposed to Bri at their Belmore River property.
"I said to her let's go for a horse ride, so we were down in the saddle shed getting the horses ready when I came back from the car with a little box in my hand," Laurie said.
"I made out there was something wrong with Bri's horses girth, which is when I went down on one knee so when she turned around I was there with the ring to surprise her."
Their beautiful daughter Grace was born on July 4, 2019. Despite the predictions of cyclone and flooding rain, the loved-up pair finally tied the knot on Valentines Day this year in front of 140 of their family and friends at The Garden Bar and Kitchen, Kempsey.
"When Bri walked down the aisle, there were no words to describe that feeling," Laurie said.
The grooms parents are Ian and Therese Argue from Kempsey Stock and Land while the parents of the bride are Tracy Leadbeater of Wingham and Phillip Brogden of Ballarat, Victoria. The bridal party consisted of Laurie's brothers Brodie and Darcy and cousin Lochie and Bri's sister Rebecca Dumas, Jay Charnock, Rhiannan Beath, Penny Macintosh and Lana Tye.
Before he recently passed away, Bri's grandfather William Leadbeater, hoped he would live long enough to see his youngest grandchild married, which he achieved.
"At wedding he proudly would tell anyone that would listen 'I"m the grandfather of that one and the great grandfather of that dear one'," Bri said.
