Gemma Purcell, our fab farmer speaker from the 2019 Renewables in Ag Conference, spoke in the 'Drylands' breakout session about building a community owned solar garden on her property.
She has invited you to take part in their first community meeting 20th April. Information below.
Come along to an online meeting to hear about the proposed Haystacks Solar Garden project for the Riverina in Grong Grong.
It's next Monday night 20th of April.
This project will allow people without a sunny roof to access the benefits of solar - through owning part of a solar farm virtually.
With the help of a grant from the Regional Community Energy Fund of the NSW Government, this project is proposed by Pingala, Community Power Agency & Komo Energy.
We are in the beginning stages of the project and keen to involve community members in the Riverina to co-design the project as we believe that genuine community involvement is a key ingredient to deliver a successful project with positive impact.
What: Haystacks Solar Garden - first community meeting
When: Monday 20th April 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Where: online via Zoom (RSVP to get the call details)
Why should I attend? If any of the following apply, you may be interested:
* You live in the Riverina,
* You want to see more renewable energy in Australia
* You believe everyone should have access to renewable energy
* You're interested to be part of a community owned energy project
Join us to learn more about the Haystacks Solar Garden and how you can get involved.
We'll introduce the project team, learn who's on the call, explain the project concept including the timeline and which parts we would like community involvement, then finish up with questions and seeking your input for the next stages
Hope to see you there.
Also, NSW DPIE have told me they've waivered all fees for farmers to access virtual energy management coaching. If you spend $30K on diesel or electricity you can get 20 hours of a consultants time (to help size a system, seek quotes, compare quotes etc) or if you spend less, you can access 4 hours.
What a great deal!
