Police are investigating the death of an Angus cow on the Mid North Coast who was believed to be shot by strangers for its meat.
Sometime between 4.30pm on May 3 and 7.30am on May 4 an unknown person or persons shot and killed an Angus female on a Viney Creek Road East property at Tea Gardens.
The animal was shot in the heat, gutted and decapitated, in what looks to be an act for the purpose of meat.
Police believe the animal was dragged to an embankment, and allegedly loaded onto a ute tray or trailer.
