Every operation requires versatility in it's equipment these days, but more importantly it needs to get the job done.

Claas Axos compact utility tractors are tough and operator-friendly machines that will readily find a role in any mixed farming and livestock operations.

Claas Harvest Centre product manager - Claas tractors, Shane Barratt, said the range represents a perfect combination of performance and versatility.

"Big, high-tech tractors may grab the headlines, but the reality is that most tractor sales in Australia are within the 75 to 100 hp 'work horse' range," he said.

"Axos delivers everything you want in a compact tractor.

"It's strong enough to perform tough, everyday jobs around the farm yet it's still very agile.

"Its long wheelbase of nearly 2.5 metres ensures stability if a front end loader is being used while still ensuring excellent maneuverability."

Available in three models from 87 to 102 hp, the series features a turbo-charged, four-cylinder, 4.4 litre Perkins Tier 3 engine with a mechanical injection system and twin valves.

"This engine delivers a constant power band over a wide engine speed range with up to 45 per cent torque back-up while still delivering good fuel efficiency," Mr Barratt said.

The two larger models also have intercooling and exhaust gas recirculation to ensure they meet the Tier 3 emissions regulations.

Axos features the smart European styling and engineering as the larger Arion and Axion series.

It is available in two specifications.

"The basic C models have a mechanical two-range transmission which features a clutchless reverser," Mr Barratt said.

"For those producers who dislike using the clutch pedal, there is also a de-clutching button on the gear stick that can be used when changing gears.

"CX models are equipped with the Claas Twinshift powershift transmission, which uses a button-operated electro-hydraulic splitter, and clutchless reverser.

"Both transmissions can be fitted with a creeper range, which reduces speeds down to a snail-like 440 metres an hour."

Standard fittings include integrated front loader brackets, three coupling options, rear linkage lift capacity of up to 5.1 tonnes, two-speed PTO and a spacious, easy-access cabin.
