David Farrell of Farrell McCrohon Stock and Station agents said the market was strong all the way through the sale, but there wasn't the highs in the weaner section that were seen last month.
"The lighter British breeds were certainly dearer though, less than 150kg did up to 586c/kg," Mr Farrell said.
He said the cows with calves section also rose in price, the 79 cows and calves offered averaged $1940 and topped at $2360.
Margaret Beckett of Central Bucca sold Charolais first calvers with calves at foot for $2280.
Jill McGregor, Woodford Island, sold Angus cows with calves for $2300 per unit.
The lead of the pregnancy-tested-in-calf cattle sold for 360c/kg, or $1990.
There were 100 steers weighing between 400kg and 500kg, they topped at 398c/kg to average 370c/kg.
Account C and D Ede sold Brangus-cross steers, 490kg, for 372.2c/kg, returning $1823.78.
Jennifer Edwards sold Santa Gertrudis-cross steers, 468kg, for 388.2c/kg, $1820.23.
Sid Williams sold about 40 Santa steers, which topped at 404c/kg, for 414kg steers, returning $1700.
The McGrath Cattle Company, Ulmarra, offered 90 pure breed Angus steers.
A run of 48 weighing an average of 299kg made 472c/kg, returning $1406. They were bought by Ray White Dorrigo for Chris Gibson.
Glen McCarthy sold very light Angus-cross steers, weighing 95kg for 586.2c/kg, $556.89.
In the heifers, the Del Pozzo family, Bonville, sold 29 unjoined Angus heifers, weighing 265kg for 388c/kg, returning $1023.
While, Heifer Station, The Gorge, sold Angus-cross weaners, 264kg, for 402c/kg, $1059.
Mr Farrell said all the cattle drawn locally and all the cattle went away.
"There was plenty of local activity but all the strength of the market was from the west," Mr Farrell said.
"Inverell was very strong. There was good lot feeder strength from NSW and Queensland."
