Walcha stud producer Chris Lisle, Tummel Herefords, has one of the biggest drafts in this year's sale, with six bulls. Tummel Herefords has had a long association with the Glen Innes event, with Mr Lisle's parents Gordon and Olga selling there from the 1960s.
In those days, more than 300 Herefords went under the hammer, with the sale run over two days, Mr Lisle said.
"We started buying and selling bulls at Glen Innes in 1964, and over the last 20 years, some of our most successful sires at Tummel were purchased from this sale," he said.
Those sires include Foxforth Leader, Kylandee Hero, Tahlan Fire Ball and Jindalee Lancelot. Last year the stud purchased Kylandee Narrabri, the sale's second highest selling bull.

He said the sale was the perfect opportunity for buyers to select from a range of bloodlines, at reasonable prices. This year's sale includes bulls from 16 studs based in NSW and south eastern Queensland.
"They are also suitable for the variable climates throughout the country, making it an ideal place to source some of Australia's best Hereford sires. Statistics have shown that trading steers with at least 50 per cent Hereford have rapid weight gain, which means a quick return for dollars per head."
