A MUCH smaller yarding of just 200 head sold to firm demand during the Gloucester store cattle sale on Thursday.
Bowe and Lidbury agent Michael Easey said it was a mixed run of cattle yarded.
"Buyers came from the Upper and Lower Hunter, Walcha and the local area," he said.
Three- to 12-month-old weaner heifers sold from $580 to $1300 and averaged $900.
Mr Easey said the weaner heifers were about $10 a head cheaper than last week's sale.
In contrast, all the steers offered sold to a firm market trend.
Weaner steers sold from $700 to $1500 and averaged a healthy $1000.
A limited number of yearling steers, 12 to 18 months, sold from $1200 to $1580 and averaged $1410, while grown steers sold from $1340 to $1700 (average $1680).
Unjoined females sold from $750 to $1200.
J and S Platts, Tipperary, sold a run of lightweight Angus steers and heifers.
Mr Easey said the steers topped at $1180 and went to a buyer from Maitland.
"The heifers sold for $970 and went into the Wollombi area," he said.
