A space event temporarily knocked out a Sky Muster satellite for nearly ten hours on Wednesday leaving customers throughout Australia with no coverage.
Services have returned to normal but anyone with ongoing issues is urged to contact NBN or their satellite service provider.
The outage occurred on Wednesday morning when a burst of natural radiation in the space near earth sent the Sky Muster satellite into protective mode.
A spokesperson for NBN said it apologised for the outage.
"NBN Co apologises for the disruption to Sky Muster satellite services on Wednesday 5 August," a spokesperson said.
"Just before 9.30am AEST, NBN Co suspects one of its satellites experienced a natural radiation event - similar to an extreme weather event - and went into self-preservation mode to avoid being damaged.
"Natural radiation events are common in space and are known to disrupt a range of satellite services.
"Services were restored just after 4pm AEST and NBN Co is continuing to monitor the satellite and services.
"If you are still experiencing issues, please contact your RSP to lodge a fault. NBN Co apologises for the disruption and would like to thank the community for its patience while services were restored."
Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) CEO, Teresa Corbin said in response to the outage and the reliability of Sky Muster: "In general, we have heard that most rural and remote Australians are satisfied with the performance of their nbn Sky Muster satellite services."
"For many, the recent changes to Sky Muster Plus that unmetered most websites (other than video streaming and VPN services) have meant that they are able to use their internet connection more often and at the times that suit them, rather than having to schedule their use around Peak and Off-Peak periods."
"We'd encourage any nbn Sky Muster customer who is still experiencing issues with their internet service to contact their internet provider."
