The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW is working towards the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show and hopes to have all competitions running as normal.
COVID-19 forced the show's cancellation this year for the first time since the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1919 so organisers are keen to ensure the event goes ahead in 2021.
A recent survey for beef cattle and steer exhibitors sought exhibitor feedback on attending a show run by RAS in a regional area, if an event couldn't be held in Sydney.
Murray Wilton, the general manager of Sydney Royal Easter Show and agriculture, said the RAS' main goal was to have all competitions run at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, however they were open to exploring other opportunities if required.
"These are still being discussed," he said.
"The RAS is working towards the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show, however like any large-scale event at the moment we still have quite a few challenges ahead of us to ensure its success.
"At this stage, our main focus is to work through the numerous scenarios of running the show within the current government restrictions, figuring out what that will look like for our exhibitors and guests, and ensuring we can deliver a show that does not lose the atmosphere and experience it is so well known for while keeping everyone safe."
Livestock competitions will start launching from next month with the full details available on the RAS website.
"We are working to ensure competitions are opened at a time that provides the most security to exhibitors but also allows sufficient preparation time," Mr Wilton said.
