RAIN didn't dampen competition at Dunedoo's monthly store cattle sale where reports of up to 60 millimetres of rain around the local area was recorded.
Agents Milling Stuart, Dunedoo. and PT Lord, Dakin and Associates, Dubbo, yarded 980 head attracting buyers from the local district, Dubbo, Mudgee and Forbes.
PT Lord, Dakin and Associates auctioneer Mark Garland, Dubbo, said the females met very solid demand at their last store sale for the year.
"Cows and calves met some very solid competition, and it was hard to buy any weaner heifers under $950 a head," he said.
Milling Stuart's Angus Stuart said the sale was very strong even in the wet weather, but there were plenty of restockers including many locals wearing Drizabones and enjoying the yarding and the rain.
Yearling steers sold to a top of $1800/head while backgrounder steers sold from $1255 to $1720. Top pen of yearling steers were 13 Shorthorns from the Hogan family, Coolah, making $1800 each.
