Ellerston manager Robert Teague said the cloning process had begun from DNA kept from the original Norman Pentaquad.
"As part of our long-term horse breeding program at Ellerston Onassis Polo, we have brought stallions over from Argentina to cross with our Ellerston foundation mares," Mr Teague said.
"Then these offspring will breed with Norman Pentaquad's clone, an old Ellerston stallion.
"Norman has been cloned and the clone will be born late December this year in South Carolina, so our fingers are crossed."
