It has been a wonderful year!
At least we are still here to look back over the past twelve months and anticipate another journey through 2021.
The Upper Murray district still showed the scars of bushfires which burnt through the area in January, but the pastures had recovered sufficiently for cattle producers to yard stock for the annual store sale.
A top price of $2080 was paid for steers which was the first time I had seen the $2000 level breached.
The top price of $442 paid for first-cross ewes at Yass was the highest I had seen for that article throughout the year.
It was amazing to see green paddocks before Christmas and some with patches of purple as if they had been splashed by Monet or Pissarro.
What will the new year bring?
With bank balances replenished and feed in the paddocks it will not be surprising if the current values for all classes of stock continues to rise: we will see.
I have enjoyed the sometimes bumpy ride and catching up with many mates on the land.
