A HIGHLAND bull from Traralgon, Vic, has continued his breed reign at royal shows taking home supreme exhibit at Canberra.
Among six exhibits, Gryphon of Glenstrae exhibited by Erica Smith of Glenstrae stud, was the only bull on show but his quality impressed judge Steve Carter of Blackjack Shorthorns, Tumut.
"He is a class individual," Mr Carter said. "He is thick and sound and already on the job."
By Skye High Cornerstone the 27-month-old is no stranger to the champions circle previously being sashed supreme at the South Australian and Victoria state shows in 2019.
"He was grand champion here last year," Ms Smith said. "We have used him in the herd, with calves hitting the ground at the moment."
Gryphon defeated senior and grand champion female, Lady Grace of Jindabyne, for the top honours. Exhibited by Jon and Jacqui Percy of Jindabyne Highland Cattle, Avonside, the rising three-year-old female was by Dougall of Kardella Ky.
The Percys also exhibited reserve junior female, Princess Fawn of Jindabyne.
Glenstrae stud won junior champion female with Willowdean Skye of Glenstrae and reserve senior female with Andie Skye of Glenstrae.
