The Clarence Valley Select female and breeder sale, hosted by Ray Donovan Stock and Station Agents, sold open auction with cows and calves averaging $2700 and reaching $3150, for Angus first calvers, back in calf to a Medlyn Angus bull sold by Ross Gibson, Friday Creek.
Franklin Angus, Karangi, sold cows with calves for $3100.
EU accredited Hereford cows and calves sold by the Moorhead family, Baryulgil Pastoral Co made $3000 going to the Chapman family, Fineflower for use in their cross breeding program. The family sold first cross Brahman/Hereford cows and calves for the same money.
Brahman cows with calves brought $2950 for Scott and Trish Amon, Valla, going to Chris Golding, Coaldale, who will background weaned steers at Baryulgil.
Brad Johnston and Jenny Brock, Levenstrath sold cows with calves to $2800 and bought Droughtmaster heifers, 10 months, for $1350 from Todd and Naomi Heyman, Seelands.
The single largest white Brahman cow, in calf, made $2700 going to the Lower Macleay, but not before snorting at ring master and Brahman breeder Innes Fahey, who had trouble squeezing through the safety slot and copped a prod about his weight from brother-in-law, and auctioneer, Mitch Donovan.
Nic and Keryn Crompton, Murwillumbah, bought 63 Droughtmaster heifers, in calf, most from Edwards Livestock Paying $1950 to $2400 and will put them on new agistment at Southgate.
