Values for the better lines of heavier cattle were on par with current expectations, but calves became dearer as the pens weighed less.
In the weaner pens, with steer calves advertised as seven to eight months, Jim Murray, Moonbah sold 17 Hazeldean-blood Angus weighing 346kg for $1870: Berridale Appliances, Berridale received $1890 for their 23 Rosskin/Hazeldean-blood Angus steers weighing 349kg and Billilingra Partnership, Bredbo sold 18 Billilingara-blood Hereford steers weighing 321kg for $1660.
Weaner steers under 260kg sold to $1620 for 14 Yavenvale Herefords weighing 257kg sold on account G.M and H.A Litchfield, Cooma while Glenavon Pastoral Co, Delegate received $1600 for their pen of 19 Marwara-blood Herefords weighing 245kg.
Yearling steers sold to $2090 when A Lysaught, Jindabyne offered 29 Herefords, 16-27 months and weighing 533kg.
In the heifer pens, Berridale Appliances, Berridale sold 24 Rosskin/Hazeldean-blood Angus weighing 317kg for $1770: Sam Agnew, Cooma received $1705 for his pen of six Angus weighing 384kg and Robert Letts, Bombala sold nine Hazeldean/Rennylea-blood Angus weighing 395kg for $1705.
Commission agents provided string competition with successful buyers attending from the Gippsland, Corryong, Wodonga and Myrtleford, Victoria, from Cootamundra, Bungendore, Bathurst, Narromine and Tamworth.
The sale was conducted by Cooma Associated Agents, Elders, Nutrien Ag Solutions and Boller and Company.
