It's a good sign when you run out of catalogues and seats before a bull sale and it was certainly an indication of what was to come at Rangan Charolais' 2021 on-property auction on Friday.

The Cook family sold 44 of 45 bulls for a top price of $22,000, reached twice, and an average of $9090 - the results their best to date.
The first of the top-priced bulls, Rangan Pinay M58 Q86, was bought by Queensland stud bidders, Ascot Charolais, Warwick via AuctionsPlus.
A homozygous poll, he was sired by Rangan Pinay M58 and his dam was a daughter of US sire LT Legend 0332 M791626.
The 18-month-year-old had a calving ease value of +13.6, 400-day-growth of +33 and milk of +17, in the top two per cent.
But, he wasn't the only top-priced bull for long, the very next lot matching the price with another homozygous poll, Rangan Ashwood L84 Q40, selling for $22,000 to Peter and Sharon Wallis of Shiralee Charolais, Gundowring.
Sired by another of Rangan's own, Rangan Ashwood F56 L84, the bull showed off a 400-day-growth of +42, calving ease of +8.6 and eye muscle area of +2.8. He was also one of the heaviest bulls in the draft, tipping the scales at 876 kilograms.
His purchaser Mr Wallis said the bull ticked the boxes, being homozygous polled, with the temperament, growth rate and structure scores he was after.
"He doesn't have any holes in him," Mr Wallis said.
Rangan stud principal Graeme Cook said it was great to see the two top-priced bulls come out of their own sires.
Not far behind them was Rangan Ascot J37 Q19, by Ascot Goldrush J37E, who sold to Tarcombe Charolais, Ruffy for $18,000.
Mr Cook said they had used all three of the top sale bulls themselves.
"It's good to see the ones I rated in the spring time have gone on to sell very well," Mr Cook said.
Mr Cook said he had kept semen from both the two $22,000 and the $18,000 sire.
"We should have calves by those bulls in three years time," he said.
There was very strong local support at the sale, along with Victorian buyers from further afield and into NSW. There was also plenty of interest Tasmania and Queensland via AuctionsPlus.
The sale was conducted by Nutrien Paull and Scollard Albury with Michael Glasser (Ray White Livestock GTSM) as auctioneer.
