AN Australasian Speckle Park heifer record was established at the third JAD stud sale, Yeoval, on Friday at $40,000.
The Pregnancy tested in calf heifer, JAD L260 Unique Q33 (ET) was purchased by return buyers Tony and Liz Sutcliffe, Toebelle Speckle Park, Duns Creek near Paterson.
Sired by Maungahina Legacy and from the Codiak Calvin sired JAD 58V Unique N4, this heifer was PTIC to JAD Napoleon N31 and due to calf early September.
The Sutcliffes purchased three females at last year's sale including the equal $20,000 top-priced JAD Moya P30.
In the record-breaking total auction clearance JAD sale grossing $1,195, 750, 23 stud bulls sold to a top of $34,000 (twice) to average $18,261. Last year 22 averaged $7591.
Twelve commercial bulls averaged $11,500.
All 26 PTIC stud heifers sold to $40,000 to average $18,115 (last year 20 registered females averaged $13,050.
Twenty commercial F2 and F3 heifers sold to $5000 to average 4313, 16 Embryos topped at $2600 to average $2250, and 70 semen straws sold to $225 to average $167.86.
Two bulls sold for equal top price at $34,000 each with the first, JAD Quaintly Q66 (ET) by Maungahina Kidmans Cove bought by Ivery Downs Cattle Company, Colinton, Queensland, who also paid $14,000 for JAD Quickfire Q52 (ET) by Wolf Lake Bob 24E.
Ivery Downs also purchased two PTIC heifers at $21,000 and $18,000.
The other at $34,000 was JAD Qualified Q95 (ET) by Ravensworth Invictus 103C, one of four bulls purchased for a $21,000 average by return buyers, the James family, Lucindale, South Australia, who last year bought five bulls including the sale-topper at $16,000.
The sale was conducted by Bowyer and Livermore, with Brian Leslie, Dairy Livestock Services, as guest auctioneer.
