Mainly local and tablelands buyers among the small crowd paid firm to cheaper prices for the 1300-head yarding at Dubbo store cattle sale last Friday.
Majority of weaners were $40 to $60 cheaper than the last sale with lightweight steers making from $770 to $1690. Heifer weaners from $610 to $1400.
Best of the Angus pregnancy tested in calf heifers sold at $2225 a head while PTIC cows made from $1325 to $2200.
Cows with calves were also cheaper although the best was a line of Santa Gertrudis with good-sized calves at foot selling at $2725 a unit.
The balance of the 80 head sold from $1520 for light Bos indicus crosses to $2600 for good framed Brahman-cross cows with fresh calves at foot.
However, PTIC cows met a firm market with the best being Herefords joined to Herefords selling at $2200.
These were PTIC red tag at $2200 while the blue tag cows from the draft made $2050.
A pen of Angus and Angus/Hereford cross cows, PTIC to Angus bulls made $1930 for Monk and Elliot, Helendale, Ballimore, when purchased for the Williams family, Terra Pastoral, Dubbo. The balance made from $1325 to $2050 while dry cows fetched from $1200 to $1510.
