YEAR 12 Peel High School student Charlotte Kesby impressed a number of officials at the NSW State Sheep Show, Dubbo to come away with two of the highest accolades for youth.

Her passion for agriculture shined through over the weekend, specifically while showing the school's Suffolk sheep allowing her to win the student Suffolk Stockman award for the second consecutive time.

Also taking home the title in 2019, Ms Kesby said she has been part of the Peel show team since year 7 while also being a Limousin cattle breeder running Brigalow Limousins.
"Suffolks are a dual purpose breed so I can relate the meat sheep back to cattle as well, and it was easy for me to pick up," she said.
"(The award is judge on) how you present yourself, handle sheep and how you interact, communicate and network with other people."
Ms Kesby was also the winner of the senior handlers competition at Dubbo officiated by Andrew Cameron, Narromine as well as champion sheep handler at the recent Gunnedah show.
"She was a standout. I picked her from a mile away - she knew what she was doing, and most of all she was relaxed while handling the sheep," Mr Cameron said.
Placing first in agriculture from year 9 to year 11, she also studies metal work and is currently making a rotating saddle rack.
"I'm a practical girl, I did a TAFE course for animal studies in year 10 and 11 and I do a lot of work with cattle a lot of the time," she said.
"I am hoping to do diesel mechanics. If I can't get the apprenticeship I want, I am going to go work at a feedlot around town."
"My old next door neighbour is a farmer, and has a mechanic business and they work with each other. You can't always rely on farming, if you look at recent years, so having another offset business you can keep going and develop skills that relate both ways."
Ms Kesby hopes to always have sheep and cattle around into the future, and says she will miss the Peel show team when she finishes year 12.
"These guys are my family, year 8 to 12 at school, and a lot of the time I don't work with the sheep but with the kids and teach them," she sad.
"But it goes further than that, I have friends in other school show teams such as Hurlstone."
