Tyler Angus stud at Tyringham held a record sale and 42 of 43 lots sold on a clear and crisp Saturday with the rising two year old Angus bull Dance Comrade Q73 by Connealy Comrade 1385 selling for $9000 to the DPI research farm at Trenayre via Grafton for likely use in sire trials.
Under-bidder on the top-priced bull, the Grills family, Waverley at Guyra, came away with the two year old Tyler Qudo Q004 by Mountain Valley Intensity M236, from an Outwest Abigail - going back to the Millah Murrah line - for $5500.
Angus bulls, eight head, averaged $5250.
Hill View Herefords' portion of the sale topped at $8500 for the two year old poll Dalkeith Q076, herd performance registered by Matariki 100380 from a Dalkeith Dividend, going to Greg and Belinda Makejev, Bonalbo.
Another Dalkeith bull, Q417 by Nude N030 sold to $8000 going to Waterhole Pastoral, lower Macleay.
Horned Hereford bulls averaged $4227 for 11 head. Poll Hereford bulls, the same number, averaged $4545.
The top priced horned Hereford bull was the two and a half year old Hill View Porky P109 by Jindalee Kilmory K094 from a Hill View Minerva going to Jim and Di Freeman, Shady Acres at Tyringham.
The horned Hereford bull Mountain Valley Que Q030 by Grassmere Gallant 996 sold for $5500 to Mark Lamond, Eden Creek via Kyogle to be put over Brahman cows for first cross heifer production. He also came away with two Hereford heifers for $1700 each
Poll Hereford heifers, five head, averaged $2500; horned heifers, the same number, averaged $1980.
The Helmsman sale was conducted by Ray Donovan Stock and Station Agents, Grafton, with Mitch Donovan officiating, in conjunction with Ray White and Elders agencies at Dorrigo.
