For more than 30 years, the Electrodip has been developed to be an efficient dipping machine for farmers, veterinarians and contractors the world over.
The original 'magic eye' spray race for the jetting and dipping of sheep Electrodip produces a constant high pressure with low volume.
The Electrodip was developed by the late Des Carey and his son Martin, in 1989, as they figured there had to be an easier way to dip sheep than in plunge or shower dips.
"Having a farm of their own meant we knew how time consuming the process was," Martin Carey said.
"Traditional methods of plunge dipping has been doing a great job in getting rid of lice, but it seems that re-infestation is occurring on a rising scale.
"Farmers can no longer wait to deal with lice, especially if they have long wool."
He said the continual development of the Electrodip has led to a machine where the chemical savings for dipping can pay for the cost of the machine in one season (depending on the size of the flock).
"But the real bonus is the time saving," he said. "The Electrodip is quick and easy to use (close to 1500 sheep can be dipped per hour and the race has sides that adjust automatically to the size of the sheep) and uses only the amount of chemical you need to be retained on the sheep.
With the Electrodip, you control the timing and volume of the treatments.
"You can deal with the problem as soon as it occurs instead of waiting for a contractor.
"Fresh chemical is used every time so there is no decrease in efficacy.
"An automated jetting race study conducted by SIBI at the Department of Agriculture and Food WA showed the effectiveness and cost savings achieved with the Electrodip."
He said with more than 25 years' experience, they have thousands of happy customers.
"The Electrodip has been tested and proven over time " Mr Carey said.
"Large holdings now have multiple Electrodips. They have been trialed by chemical companies and are a benchmark for chemical registration.
"They've been sold the world over including New Zealand, Australia, UK, Europe and Asia where they are used for all types of jetting including fly, lice, scabmite and bluetongue."
Simon Kelsall, Boddington, WA, believes Electrodip has been a game changer.
"Having an Electrodip has changed our lives," he said. "It has taken a lot of management headaches out of running our Merino enterprise.
"Lice and flies are no longer a major problem in our operation."
Mr Carey said after extensive travelling throughout Australia and through on farm feedback from farmers they have made developments.
These include nozzles that increase the coverage around the sheep with no wool on, wheels that can be fitted to existing pumps and motors for ease of movement and a lead-out ramp to help with animal flow.
Electrodip Ltd proudly remains a family-owned company.
The Electrodip is quick and easy to use, and uses only the amount of chemical you need.
