With 80 Merino and Poll Merino rams penned for their annual on-property sale, the McGufficke family at their Greendale stud, Cooma, were very pleased to realise a top price of $6000 with an average price paid of $3637.50 for all rams sold.

Greendale Merinos have long concentrated on measuring the performance of their rams before they are penned foe sale, and there are many commercial wool growers who return year after year to buy rams.
As noted in the catalogue, the business is completely commercially focused aiming to produce the most efficient, productive and profitable Merino under realistic, commercial paddock conditions.

The top priced ram was bought by Jack Glasson, Jimenbuen, Dalgety, who was advised by Wagga Wagga-based sheep breeding consultant Craig Wilson.
"In our breeding program we aim for maximum return per ha and these sheep have performed exceptionally well in on0farm trials over a long period," Mr Wilson said.
"The ram will be used as back up in an AI program - the Greendale bloodlines have proven themselves and they are a very good investment."
Born a single, the ram's fleece measured 16.2 micron, 2.8 standard deviation, 17 co-efficient of variation and 99.4pc comfort factor.
His Australian Sheep Breeding Value's indicated 117 clean fleece weight percentage, 4.2 yearling weight, 29.2 yearling clean fleece weight and -2.3 yearling fibre diameter (both in the top ten pc) and 176 Fibre Production Plus, with 191 Merino Production Plus.

The sale was interfaced with AuctionsPlus, settled by Elders, Cooma, with Steve Ridley and Tom McGregor sharing the rostrum.
