RECENT rain and predictions of even more of the wet stuff have forced the cancellation of the first ever Killara Charity Campdraft.
Originally scheduled for this weekend, widespread rain across the state's North West earlier this week coupled with predictions of a major rain event across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, forced organisers' hand and lead to the cancellation.
Co-hosts of the event, the Australian Bushmen's Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) took to social media on Tuesday to break the bad news.
"It is with great disappointment that the Killara Campdraft has been cancelled for this weekend," the post read.
"The current weather report is predicting a huge rain event for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, which would make it impossible to run.
"The committee exhausted all avenues of postponement, however suitable dates and cattle availability has brought us to this decision before major expense was incurred with bringing infrastructure in such as showers and toilets."

The cancellation is a blow to the state's campdrafting community which has been starved of chances to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter as all proceeds from the event were set to go to the charity.
However, the ABCRA's post said planning had already begun to host another event at the site in May next year.
"We have started planning our next event for May 2022, so we look forward to seeing you all at that event," the post read.
"The plan is to run two events annually at the Killara facilities in May and October.
"A big thank you to all involved in putting this together, including our generous sponsors.
"A special thank you to Elders and its staff for investing in and providing the facilities to enable campdrafting at Killara."
