The NSW Government will put in an extra $10m into the Holiday Break program.
"We know COVID-19 has increased feelings of isolation and widened the tyranny of distance for young people living in the bush, which is why we are broadening this program that provides free or subsidised activities over the school holidays," Deputy Premier Paul Toole said.
"Offering more barbeque music nights and sport camps is our way of giving back the fun, care-free experiences that our kids had to miss out on during lockdowns when public pools were closed and holiday activities were restricted."
Bronnie Taylor, NSW Minister for Rural Youth, said that, as part of the package, Regional Youth Community Coordinators (RY-CCs) are also being deployed to storm and flood impacted areas with funding for a Children and Young People Wellbeing program.
"Our Youth Community Coordinators will support community-led recovery all across regional NSW and we have already seen four of them begin important work in the North Coast, Central West, Illawarra Shoalhaven and the South East Monaro regions," Mrs Taylor said.
"The RY-CCs will put on community events as well as social activities and wellbeing programs for young people and engage with them to make sure their voices are heard at the highest levels of government."
