Container charges skyrocket for main chickpea market

Chickpea growers face uncertain times for their crop as ship freight costs skyrocket and some of the crop is downgraded due to the wet weather before and during harvest.

As the last parts of the grain harvest are completed in NSW, chickpea growers face an uncertain future for their harvested crop with rising container freight costs and uncertainty on how downgraded chickpeas will be sold.
