The decision to enter the 2024 Royal Canberra Show certainly paid off for Lousie Ball and Don Hearne, Cootamundra, winning supreme Dexter.
The pair received the prestigious ribbon with their three and a half year old black Dexter bull, Carragheen Serendipity.
Judge Hannah Powe, Goondoola Livestock, Cargo said the bull was the type to make an impact on the breed.
"The bull I have as my supreme here is the complete package and offers dual purpose attributes for the breed," she said.
"He has plenty of length, with a soft, supple skin, soundness of hoof and has a sire presence about him.
Serendipity received the supreme ribbon after competing against the grand champion female also exhibited by the Cootamundra breeders, Carragheen Tallulah.
The black Dexter heifer won the grand champion title over senior champion female, Paradigm Princess Midge, exhibited by Paradigm Dexter Cattle, Killawarra earlier in the day.
Ms Ball and Mr Hearne also exhibited the junior champion Dexter bull, Carragheen Usher, who was beaten by his sire for the title of grand champion bull.
Ms Ball said her return to the show ring was prompted by a youth member purchasing a heifer from her last year and wanting to show it.
Serendipity won supreme at the Victorian speciality Dexter show in Albury, last November.
