NSW Water Minister Melinda Pavey is asking communities to have their say on how the state's online water trading registries should be improved.
"NSW has led the way in improving transparency and already provides access to a number of publicly searchable registers including the NSW Water Register and the Water Access Licence Register," Mrs Pavey said.

"Now, we have an opportunity to improve access to these registers and make it easier for everyone to understand.
"We're calling for feedback from the community on what improvements are needed, how we can implement these while still protecting the privacy of our farmers, and what other gaps in information need to be filled."
The move comes after Murray MP Helen Dalton's attempts to introduce a new water register failed in parliament, the Shooters, Fishers, Farmers member had both her original bill and an amended version voted down.
The bills were argued against by National Party members including Mrs Pavey, who said the original bill would threaten the privacy of 'mum and dad' farmers and the amended version had raised concerns from irrigation companies.
Mrs Pavey introduced her own bill on water transparency - which would not have included a new water register but, like Mrs Dalton's bill would have forced MPs to disclose water assets - but this too was voted against in parliament.
In 2019 WaterNSW launched their portal WaterInsights to offer water users quicker access to key information on river flows, dam storage volumes and water availability.
People can submit their feedback on water market information platforms via an online survey from now until February 1.
It will also be possible to join a webinar with WaterNSW on the topic on Thursday December 3 and Wednesday January 20.
