CL Squires and Company stock and station agents yarded 2328 head of cattle on Thursday as part of a two day weaner and yearling extravaganza under the RMA Network banner, that included Tenterfield and Glen Innes production.
At the Inverell Regional Livestock Exchange steers 200 to 300kg, 813 head, averaged 605.8 cents a kilogram or $1605 to reach a top of 688c/kg and $1788. Lighter Angus calves brought upwards of 708c/kg. Steers 300 to 400kg, weaners and milk tooth calves with many still with their mothers until the day before sale, numbered 682 head and averaged 536c/kg and $1804, reaching a top of 596c/kg or $2055. Weaner heifers 200 to 300kg, 630 head, averaged 569.5c/kg and $1490, reaching a top of 642c/kg or $1687.
Angus steers with Eaglehawk blood, 348kg from Reid Trust, Inverell, brought 540c/kg or $1879 going to backgrounding ahead of entry into Kerwee feedlot at Jondaryan, Qld.
Tony and Ruth Stace, Wandsworth, sold Angus steers with Clunie Range and Eaglehawk blood, 341kg brought 551c/kg or $1878 while lighter brothers 213kg made 688c/kg or $1465 going to Glen Innes for backgrounding.
John Cassidy with his manager Peter Barker, Merilba at Kingstown, sold Angus/South Devon steers 281kg for 612c/kg or $1719. They sold red Devon 212kg for 674c/kg or $1428 to repeat buyers Kym and Brian Harper, Glen Innes.
Brangus steers 373kg made 498c/kg or $1857 for Jeff Parker, Manilla, going to Coonamble.
Clerkness Pastoral at Bundara yarded the most cattle, selling Angus with Sara Park blood 325kg for 562c/kg or $1826 going to Dubbo through Christie and Hood.
Yearling heifers 300 to 400kg, 148 head, averaged 534c/kg and $1679 reaching a top of 554c/kg or $1795.
The Stace family, Wandsworth, sold Angus heifers 326kg, for 550c/kg or $1793 going to Walgett through Clemson Hiscox.
Mountain Valley Pastoral, Coolatai, sold Hereford heifers by their own bulls, 338kg for 532c/kg or $1798.
Limflex heifers by Flemington Limousin bulls from Nigel and Casey Wieck, CB Charolais and Limousins, 267kg, made 576c/kg or $1538.
Charolais cross heifers from Smithston Farms, Glencoe, 237kg, made 620c/kg or $1469 going to Wilmot Cattle Co at Hernani for backgrounding.
Andrew Stewart, Emmaville sold Angus heifers 240kg for 616c/kg or $1478 going to Walgett through Clemson Hiscox and Co. He also sold Speckle Park 269c/kg for 578c/kg or $1554.
Glen town Grazing Co, Toobeah via Goondiwindi, sold Hereford heifers 293kg for 506c/kg or $1482 going to the Liverpool Plains through Elders Gunnedah.
Merilba at Kingstown sold South Devon heifers 188kg for 618c/kg or $1162 going to Tamworth through Garvin and Cousens. Thomas Burnett, Lightening Ridge, sold Brangus with no grain influence, 296kg for 540c/kg or $1598. Tony Coleman, Red Island Beef at Bingera, bought Angus heifers to restock paying 592c/kg for 285kg or $1687.
Troy McIntyre on the Henry River at Pinkett, sold Angus steers with Sara Park blood 320kg for 580c/kg or $1856 and sold heifers 229kg for 622c/kg or $1424.
Hereford breeders the Campion family, also at Pinkett, sold Angus/Hereford 303kg for 532c/kg or $1612.
Karl Letzner and Diana Simms, Barraba, sold their Tuli breeders to a young South African now living in Queensland and were tired of fighting to open their gates for all the grass and paid $1373 for Angus heifers from Smithston Farms, Glencoe, 214kg at 642c/kg. They also bought Santa Gertrudis cross with Terrick Santa blood from the Australian Livestock Corporation, 219kg for 602c/kg or $1318.
Brangus from Dirranbandi, Qld, 292kg at 540c/kg made $1575 going onto irrigation country at Warren.
