Studs on display were Coffin Creek Angus at Mudgee, Llandillo Poll Herefords at The Lagoon, Millah Murrah Angus at Bathurst, Milwillah Angus at Young, and Rose Hill Speckle Parks at Lue.
Llandillo Poll Herefords
Although the number of visitors may have been back on previous years, due to the drought, those who did attend were mostly in the market for a bull.
Lee White from Llandillo Poll Herefords at The Lagoon said he sold several bulls during the day.
Visitors included Janelle and David Manwaring, Rose View, Cootamundra, who made the special trip to Llandillo during Beef Week to view and buy a bull. They bought Landillo Flynny who is by Canadian sire FCC 48Y Columbus 3C.
Apart from a number of stud and commercial bulls for sale on display, Llandillo also showcased a selection of their show heifers, breeding cows and steers from their beef program.
Millah Murrah Angus
A solid showing of visitors attended the Millah Murrah open day at Bathurst to preview the bulls for sale on September 5.
Several new bloodlines received favourable comment including Loch Up L133, Spickler Chisum 255 and EF Commando.
Rose Hill Speckle Park
With four cows sold out of six offered and many enquiries about semen straws, the inaugural open day for Rose Hill Speckle day was a huge success as co-principal Natalie Merz explained.
"We now have a list for embryos as well," she said.
As one of the first Speckle Park studs in Australia, the stud uses predominantly AI and ET programs to ensure they can utilise the best Canadian bloodlines available.
With about 100 registered stock they have found that the high fertility of the Speckle Park breed is of huge benefit to any commercial breeder to assist with great turnover.
Rose Hill sell out of the paddock and at the Scone Speckle Park sale annually.
Coffin Creek
Jack and Harry White and their families welcomed a large number of visitors to their Coffin Creek stud who took advantage of the open day to view the bulls that will be offered for sale on August 22.
There was solid interest in the progeny of Booragul Revenue M4 who was purchased for $35,000 and also Millah Murrah Lakeside who was purchased last year for $45,000.
Temperament is a big draw card with the Coffin Creek breeding program. Jack White believes that while it is not a trait they purposely breed for it is a trait that is outstanding in this line up.
Milwillah Angus
Milwillah Angus opened their gates to a lot of new faces and return buyers.
It was a fantastic day for all who attended.
